December Lawyer Portal updates

Legal Aid BC is continuing to improve and further develop the new Lawyer Portal based on your feedback.

Here are some recent updates that were implemented:

Save and Add New button

We heard your feedback regarding the Save and Add New” button on the invoice and have added it back onto the invoice in the Fee and Other Disbursement sections.

Edit criminal contract information

Lawyer Portal users can now edit the existing information and offence date for criminal contracts. Also, we have moved the related court location field to a dropdown menu, making it easier to input the location information.

Invoice billing dates

If you have tried to invoice on the same date as your contract bill by date, you may have received an error message or could not see the applicable fees and disbursement. This error has been resolved and invoices can have the same date as the contract bill by date.

Duty Counsel Schedule Report access

The Duty Counsel Schedule Report, which links to the duty counsel shift schedule, was missing on the All Contracts Schedule-Based Contract section of the Lawyer Portal. The link has now been updated, so lawyers who do duty counsel work can now access the schedule. You can find the Duty Counsel Schedule Report in the All Contracts Schedule-Based Contract section and on the Contract Details page.

General performance

To improve overall portal performance, we are currently focusing on invoices to create efficiencies and reduce loading times.

The Lawyer Portal is continually being updated to improve the performance and the user experience for lawyers. Stay tuned for updates in the New Year.
