Legal aid services back to normal after one-day walkout

Legal aid services are back to normal after a one-day walkout disrupted some services at the Vancouver Regional Centre on Friday, November 1, 2019.

The Professional Employees Association (PEA), which represents the organization's 26 staff lawyers, served Legal Aid BC with strike notice October 22, 2019, after collective bargaining negotiations broke down, and advised that strike action would begin with the one-day walkout.

Details of what further actions, if any, the PEA intends to take after November 1 have not been provided.

Legal Aid BC remains committed to reaching an agreement with the PEA through the collective bargaining process and continues to be available to resume negotiations.
