We have a range of free legal services that may help you — representation, advice, and information.
We give priority to people living with low incomes, but many services are available to all people in British Columbia.
Representation (a lawyer to take your case) if you qualify and have:
- serious family problems;
- child protection matters;
- criminal law issues;
- immigration and refugee issues; or
- mental health or prison law issues.
Advice
- provided by duty counsel lawyers at courthouses for family, child protection, immigration, or criminal law issues
- provided through the Family LawLINE and by family advice lawyers
Information
- provided in person and over the phone by:
- intake assistants at legal aid locations,
- community partners,
- Indigenous community legal workers in some communities, and
- legal aid navigators (if you’re a legal aid client).
- provided through online resources and the Aboriginal Legal Aid in BC website
