Community Advocate Support Line (CASL)

Funded by the Law Foundation of BC, the Community Advocate Support Line (CASL) is a dedicated support service exclusively for community-based advocates in BC.

CASL is staffed by one full-time lawyer and one part-time lawyer. They can give advocates legal information and legal advice about poverty law issues to support advocates’ work on behalf of clients. Help is offered primarily for matters involving welfare law, residential tenancy and other housing issues, employment insurance, the Canada Pension Plan (including disability benefits), debts, debt collection and bankruptcy, and consumer contracts.

Please note CASL is a legal support service only; it does not provide direct representation to clients.

If you are a community-based advocate employed by an agency and you would like to learn more about CASL, please email contact@clasbc.net with a brief description of you and your work.
