Legal help under COVID-19

Legal Aid BC is still here to help you during COVID-19. Find up-to-date information about our services and other legal resources below.

Legal aid applications

Contact your local legal aid location to apply. If there isn't a location in your community, call the LABC Call Centre.

General legal aid information

Our community partners are located across the province and can help you get legal aid information and connect with Legal Aid BC.

Legal information services

Our legal information outreach workers provide information and referral services by phone and through the Family Law in BC website LiveHelp chat service.

Our Aboriginal community legal workers provide information and limited legal advice by phone.

Child protection services

If you have a child protection matter and there's a Parents Legal Centre (PLC) in your community, call the office to receive help. PLC services are now available by phone only. For contact information and hours of service, please see the PLC page.

Family advice services

Duty counsel family advice services are now available by phone only. Lawyers aren't available at courthouses or Justice Access Centres. For phone numbers and service hours, please see family duty counsel lawyers and family advice lawyers.

Criminal legal services

Contact our Call Centre or your local legal aid location if you need help with your criminal law matter.

If you qualify for assistance from a lawyer on an on-going basis, you'll be referred to a lawyer. If you don't qualify for ongoing assistance but need help with your case before you return to court, we can arrange for a lawyer to speak with you on the phone. In-custody clients will be assisted by duty counsel.
