ALL launches hardship fund

The Association of Legal Aid Lawyers (ALL), in collaboration with Legal Aid BC and the BC Ministry of the Attorney General, has established a hardship fund for tariff lawyers experiencing financial challenges due to COVID-19.

BC lawyers who provide legal aid services and are negatively impacted financially due to the pandemic are invited to apply for financial assistance through the ALL Hardship Trust (AHT). The identities of applicants and all information provided in connection with applications will be kept confidential by the AHT’s trustees, Nancy Merrill, QC, and Carol Baird Ellan.

See below for instructions to help you find information in the Lawyer Portal you’ll need to fill out sections of the application. 

To find the total amounts LABC has paid you by calendar year:

  • Go to the Lawyer Portal
  • On the left side/​middle of the home page, click on the down arrows to the right of the word Stats (see example screenshot below)
  • This will display the total payments LABC has issued to you each year

To find the number of contracts issued to you:

  • Go to the All Contracts page in the Lawyer Portal
  • Click on the column called Service Start to have your contracts list sorted by date, based on service start date
  • Count the number of contracts within each calendar year
