The memos are intended to help lawyers prepare cases for legal aid clients. They’re organized by area of law (Aboriginal, criminal, family, immigration, and refugee), cover a range of topics, and are regularly updated. They aren’t intended to replace your own research.
How to make a request:

Log in to the Lawyer Portal.

In the Resources & News section, select the Legal Research Memoranda category. Here you’ll find the LAO LAW catalogue of memos and the form you can use to request a copy from us.

Fill out the request form and email it to Lawyers.Resources@legalaid.bc.ca.

You will receive your memos by email.

Copies are not available by regular mail or fax.

There is a limit of two memos per legal aid contract.
