
For hourly contracts, our Lawyer Support team and Audit and Investigation Department review timesheets to ensure accurate billing. A common issue with timesheets is the level of detail required.
As outlined on page 7 of General Terms and Conditions (PDF), you must provide “a typed record (identified per client) containing an itemized list of legal services performed. It must include a detailed description of the services, in chronological order, and the date and time spent on each task.”
LABC relies on the information provided on timesheets to understand the status of the case and services provided to date, and detailed timesheets are required. Sufficient details include the nature of the task, whether it is a call, email, research, or court attendance. For example: “Email with client’s support worker regarding counselling sessions”, or “Phone call to client regarding ministry’s concern about safety of children.”
