Legal Aid BC continues to offer bursaries for continuing professional development courses that are relevant to your legal aid practice. These courses are coming up soon and are available to attend virtually.

November 9 (12:35 pm – 1:35 pm): "Making the Most of Expert Evidence" Criminal Defence Series: Session 2 - What to Know Before You Communicate With a Prospective Expert

November 10 (11:30 pm – 1:30 pm): Starting Your Own Law Practice

November 17, 18, and 19 (9 am – 2 pm each day): 2021 Annual CIAJ Conference: Indigenous Peoples and the Law

December 3  (9 am – 3:45 pm): Immigration Issues in Depth 2021

December 15 (12:35 pm – 1:35 pm): "Making the Most of Expert Evidence" Criminal Defence Series: Session 3 - What Makes You the Expert? Practical Tips for Qualifying, and Disqualifying, Expert Witnesses

To be considered for these bursaries, you must have an LABC vendor number, have taken a minimum of three legal aid contracts in the last 12 months, and agree to take a minimum of three contracts in the coming year.

To apply for a bursary, email lawyers.resources@legalaid.bc.ca and provide the name of the course, your call date, vendor number, and confirmation that you agree to take the minimum number of contracts in the coming months. Selection of bursary recipients is at the discretion of LABC.
