Legal Aid BC was recently made aware of notable increases to accommodation rates in British Columbia.
LABC tariff lawyers are authorized to use government personnel rates for hotel accommodation, however, many government rates for accommodation are now beyond the LABC reasonableness threshold of $150 per night. In response to these recent increases, LABC will be adjusting the maximum hotel rate from $150 per night to $250 per night. Please note that this rate is inclusive of all applicable fees and taxes, except GST. We will be making this change shortly.
As always, when booking accommodations related to travel on LABC contracts, lawyers are still expected to choose the most reasonable accommodation at provincial government standard room rates for each location, as set out on the BC government website.
