The majority of the Divorce Act amendments will come into force on March 1, 2021. The courses are meant to provide a detailed explanation of the new provisions, and they include links to helpful resources. Law Society of BC accreditation information will be provided for each course.

Introduction to Federal Family Law Amendments

The first course in the series is Introduction to Federal Family Law Amendments. While this 75-minute course focuses primarily on amendments to the Divorce Act, it also briefly describes amendments made to the Family Orders and Agreements Enforcement Assistance Act and changes relating to two international conventions touching on matters of family law. To access the course, visit the DOJ Training for Professionals web page. The page will be updated with additional courses as they become available.

For more information about upcoming DOJ training courses and supportive materials, read this information sheet. Be sure to visit the family law pages on the DOJ website regularly as they are often updated with new materials.
