As we near the end of 2024, Legal Aid BC’s finance team is busy processing final payments and financial documents for this year.
Please note an earlier version of the payment schedule did not include the updated cut-off dates. This will impact the pay periods during the holiday season. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and encourage anyone negatively impacted to contact us directly at Lawyer Support.
LABC has a standard schedule for paying lawyer accounts – invoices submitted through the Lawyer Portal by midnight Tuesday are processed on Wednesday of the following week for payment on Friday of that following week (i.e. payment within 10 days). This year, due to the December holiday schedule, we had to shorten the pay periods because of holidays falling on Wednesday, as follows:
Week of December 16 – 20, 2024

December 17, 2024 – Tariff and accounts payable payments are prepared and processed by the bank on December 20, 2024.

Invoice cutoff date: Dec 9, 2024

Impact will be one day being excluded for billing payments to lawyers (December 10, 2024) it will be paid in the following weeks payment period.
Week of December 23 – 27, 2024

Monday December 23, 2024 – Tariff payments are prepared and processed by the bank for payment on the same day.

The December 23, 2024 payment will replace the payment originally scheduled for December 27, 2024 to alleviate impact on lawyers.

Invoice cutoff date: Dec 15, 2024

Impact will be two days being excluded for billing payments to lawyers (December 16 and 17, 2024) it will be paid in the following weeks payment period.
