LABC’s Quality Assurance Program continues to grow and support legal aid lawyers in BC.

LABC’s Quality Assurance Program (QAP) supports legal aid lawyers by funding practice resources and Continuing Professional Development (CPD) training. Since the QAP’s expansion in 2018, the program has granted more than 1,000 bursaries to hundreds of legal aid lawyers in BC.

LABC works with leading training partners, including the Continuing Legal Education Society of BC (CLEBC) and the Trial Lawyers Association of BC (TLABC), to ensure that legal aid lawyers have access to the training opportunities needed to develop skills, connect with peers, and stay up to date in LABC’s core areas: criminal, family, child protection, and immigration/refugee law. If eligibility requirements are met, the QAP covers registration fees in full, which allows legal aid lawyers to access CPD at no cost.

The QAP also covers practice resources such as CLEBC’s family and criminal Case Digest Connection, TLABC’s Listservs, and Legal Aid Ontario’s The Bottom Line refugee newsletter and Legal Research Memoranda.

Please email questions or comments about the QAP to lawyers.resources@legalaid.bc.ca.
