Want to share your knowledge with the next generation of legal aid lawyers? Consider becoming a mentor through LABC’s mentorship program, generously supported by the Law Foundation of BC. We’re seeking applications from qualified lawyers to act as mentors for junior lawyers taking on legal aid cases.
Interested applicants should be experienced lawyers in criminal and/or family/child protection law (minimum 10 years). We welcome applications from lawyers with a range of experience. We’re looking for 12 mentors throughout the province, but priority will be given to family lawyers practising in BC’s north and interior.
Mentors will be expected to provide between 2 – 4 hours per month (up to 48 hours annually) for mentoring junior lawyers, including regular case discussions, skills development, and in-depth support. Compensation is provided at the LABC tariff rate (tier 3). This is a one-year contract position, but we anticipate the opportunity to renew yearly.
For more information on requirements and how to apply, please review the position posting (PDF).
