We’re pleased to inform you that we’ll soon be enhancing how LABC collects lawyer demographic data in the Lawyer Portal.
Legal aid private bar lawyers will be offered the choice to voluntarily share demographic data in expanded areas, which include Indigenous identity, gender, race, sexual orientation, and disabilities.
This important step will improve our ability to provide you with appropriate support and better services to our clients, by identifying and responding to systemic racism, and advancing racial equity and LABC’s obligations to tackle systemic discrimination in all its forms.
The expanded lawyer diversity demographic data will be gathered and protected through the Lawyer Portal, where more demographic options will be available for people to voluntarily self-identify.
Any data you share will be kept safe and confidential.
