October 27, 2025, is Duty Counsel Day — a time to celebrate our everyday legal heroes and recognize the essential role they have in our justice system.
Initiated by Canada’s legal aid associations, this day raises awareness about duty counsel. Each year, duty counsel assist thousands of people across the country in navigating the legal system and accessing timely legal support in the areas of criminal, family, child protection, and immigration law.
If you’re duty counsel, Legal Aid BC (LABC) extends its sincere appreciation for your dedication and ongoing commitment to advancing access to justice. Your efforts make a meaningful difference in communities throughout the province, and we’re proud to take this opportunity to recognize and celebrate your work.
