Looking for a way to share your knowledge with the next generation of legal aid lawyers? We’re launching a new mentorship program, with generous support from the Law Foundation of BC. We are seeking applications from qualified lawyers to act as mentors for junior lawyers taking on legal aid cases. We’re looking for 12 mentors throughout the province.
Interested applicants should be experienced lawyers in criminal and/or family/child protection law (minimum 10 years). We welcome applications from lawyers with a range of experience. However, priority will be given to those family lawyers practising in BC’s north and interior.
Mentors will be expected to provide between 2 – 4 hours per month (up to 48 hours annually) for mentoring junior lawyers, including regular case discussions, skills development, and in-depth support. Compensation is provided at the LABC tariff rate (tier 3). This is a one-year contract position, but we anticipate the opportunity to renew yearly.
