As you may be aware from our September edition of the Legal Aid Brief, Legal Aid BC (LABC) is reviewing its tariff lawyer roster, recruitment, and retention management.
In October we asked lawyers to participate in a survey to provide their input on LABC’s roster, recruitment, and retention. The survey was open for two weeks. We received 520 responses (a response rate of roughly 37.5%)! Our project team would like to thank everyone who took time out of their busy practice to participate in this survey. The results will be essential in guiding our report.
To keep everyone updated, we will be launching a project webpage soon, so stay tuned. The webpage will include information on our project overview, advisory committee, and the current project status. Key results of the survey will be posted there shortly.
The Review will conclude in March 2024 with a report containing a summary of current practices as well as recommendations for continuous improvement.
As always, should you have any questions, or wish to provide additional feedback, please contact Denbigh Watertosh, Lawyer Engagement Coordinator, denbigh.watertosh@legalaid.bc.ca; or our consultant Jawad Kassab, kassabja@rogers.com.
