We’re pleased to inform you that new lawyer demographic data options are now available in LABC’s Lawyer Portal

Legal aid private bar lawyers now have the option to voluntarily share expanded demographic data, including Indigenous identity, gender, race, sexual orientation, and disabilities.

The ability to collect demographic data will improve LABC’s planning and programs to provide you with appropriate support, as well as better services to our clients, by identifying and responding to systemic racism, advancing racial equity and tackling systemic discrimination in all its forms. You will also have the option to provide consent to share the data for appropriate choice of counsel requests (see our FAQs (PDF) for more information).

Any data you share will be kept safe and confidential.

Please remember that if you previously shared demographic data with LABC and provided consent, you will need to reshare that information and provide that consent again in the new My Demographics tab in the Lawyer Portal.

For more information about expanded demographic data coming to the Lawyer Portal, please review My Demographics in the Lawyer Portal or our updated FAQs (PDF).
