As announced in December, Legal Aid BC is “modernizing” the system used for the Lawyer Portal so lawyers who do legal aid work can be better supported. The portal is almost ready – Legal Aid BC will launch the upgraded Lawyer Portal on Monday, June 27, 2022.

The updates to the Lawyer Portal are coming soon and here’s what you need to know:

Lawyer Portal training

Training will be available to lawyers before the upgraded portal is launched to help you get familiar with the new system. Lawyer Services will provide virtual training sessions with portal demos, overview materials, and a series of training videos. If you cannot attend virtual training, access to the training session recordings will be provided. Training resources will be available mid-June on the Legal Aid BC website and Lawyer Support resources will be increased during this time to answer questions.

New usernames

All lawyers will be required to create a new profile, including a username and password, for the new Lawyer Portal site. Your username must be an email address (business or personal) that is unique to you. An error message will appear if an email address has already been claimed as a Lawyer Portal username. More information about creating a new account will be provided as part of training later this month.

Lawyer Portal outage

The Lawyer Portal will be shut down from 10 pm on Wednesday, June 22 to Sunday, June 26 to migrate the system’s information. Please see the Lawyer Portal outage and payment schedule for more information.
