Further to a discussion held at the Judicial Operations Committee of the Provincial Court of BC, all court users including defence counsel, Crown counsel, the judiciary, and sheriff services, have agreed that referring to in-custody accused persons as “bodies” is inappropriate. The committee asks justice system participants to refrain from using the term “body” or “bodies” and instead to use the preferred terms “in-custodies” or “in-custody accused/offender.”
